Greetings! First of all, let me say how honored I am to be serving as Chairman
of your Chamber’s Board of Directors this year. We are having a great year and I am enjoying
working with all of our members.
The Chamber Board, Staff and Committee chairs met several months ago for our
annual planning retreat. We talked about what was working well for the organization
(many things!!), and also identified areas that held opportunities for growth in
the coming year. We then broke into groups and brainstormed three key focus areas that we feel will provide
even more value to our members and to make our organization stronger.
The first focus area is Membership Attraction and Retention. A committee was formed that has been busy identifying incentives for referrals, points for member
involvement, revitalizing the Membership Committee to fully engage our members and
ensure that you are utilizing your membership benefits and services to the fullest. Implementing
a Chairman’s Circle, or tiered membership packages is also in the works.
The second focus area is “FUN raising” and Financial Resources. This committee Has been brainstorming various revenue streams, both event-based as well as passive
sources such as merchandise sales. The group identified a need to establish another signature community event and in December we debuted “Desert Bash and Off Road Poker Run”.
The event was a success, not only financially for the Chamber – we were also able
to drive significant revenue into Lake Havasu City with those who participated from
other parts of the country.
The final focus area is Communication and Marketing and that’s where this website
fits in. The Communication and Marketing group is tasked with refining the message
of what the Chamber is all about, enhancing the Chamber’s web tools in ways that
will benefit our members, and streamlining the flow of information.
Our board is also committed to continuing to strengthen our Governmental Affairs activities. We officially formed our Political Action Committee (PAC),
which enables the Chamber to be more proactive in the political arena, and keep
you all abreast of legislative initiatives and how they may affect your lives and
your businesses. Please enjoy our website and let us know how we can better serve
the Lake Havasu business community.
